Welcome to the blog (a.k.a. Using phones with Windows Live Messenger)

Imagine making free Messenger voice calls to your buddies...from the kitchen. Imagine not having to hang around your PC when chatting with your Messenger buddies - Well, this is actually possible using Phones for Windows Live Messenger.

The phones in question are dual mode cordless phones (similar to your regular home phone, but with additional USB connectivity to connect to your PC). All you've got to do is download Windows Live Messenger (version 8.0 or later), plug the phone into a USB port on your PC and voila!!! You can sign in to Messenger, set your status, view your contact list, receive notifications as your buddies sign in and call any of your buddies - all from the phone device (yes, that's right, while lounging on your favorite comfy couch :-))

And while calling your online buddies is absolutely free, you can also use your phone for inexpensive calls to phone numbers anywhere in the world using the Windows Live Call Service.

This blog is dedicated to discussing features of these phones - questions, comments, etc are welcome.

The phones are currently available for retail from Uniden and Philips. Give it a try - after all you don't even need to move from that comfy couch...
